VISIONBOX
CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Each year since our founding, we offer scene study classes in five-week sequences that culminate in at least one performance. These acting classes are taught by Jennifer McCray Rincón and are based in graduate-level study. The fall sequences specifically emulate first and second-year MFA training, beginning with Chekhov, Ibsen, and Strindberg, classical realism, and then moving into Shakespeare. We call this our certificate program.

Shakespeare
Scene Study & Solo

ALL CLASSES HELD AT: 7108 E Lowry Blvd, Denver, CO 80230

Since our founding, Visionbox Ensemble members have developed Solo Shakespeare Projects that feature the exploration of one character from the Shakespeare canon created by the actors themselves. The only requirement for each piece is that at least 50% must be Shakespearean text. The other 50% can be original writing, material from other playwrights, video, dance, music, etc. Solo Shakespeare Projects were first developed in Colorado by Tony Church at the National Theatre Conservatory at the second year level in the program. Jennifer McCray Rincon helped direct and produce these pieces during her 18 year residency with the NTC. These creative projects have been a core performance element over the past 13 years of Visionbox’s productions. Nine to twelve pieces written and produced in the class will be selected for a performance in the Denver Fringe Festival, June 6th-9th, 2024, directed by Jennifer McCray Rincon, designed by Phillip Baldwin, and with original music by Gio Barabadze.

All new actors must submit a headshot and resume to info@visionbox.org and will audition with Artistic Director Jennifer McCray Rincón and the Visionbox team.

Classes are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 6pm - 9pm.
