2026 SELF-TAPE CLASSES
VISIONBOX CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Each year since our founding, we offer scene study classes in five-week sequences that culminate in at least one performance. These acting classes are taught by Jennifer McCray Rincón and are based in graduate-level study. The fall sequences specifically emulate first and second-year MFA training, beginning with Chekhov, Ibsen, and Strindberg, classical realism, and then moving into Shakespeare. We call this our certificate program.

2026 Self-Tape Classes
Audition Coaching and Self-Tapes (ONGOING)
Taught by Jennifer McCray Rincón and Scott Colby
-
Audition coaching is taught by Jennifer McCray Rincon, and will focus on how to make auditions ‘acting’ as opposed to ‘result-oriented performance’. As Head of Acting at the DCPA, Ms. Rincon directed 18 years of actors’ showcases in New York and Los Angeles for agents and casting directors. She also auditioned thousands of young actors for admission to the MFA Program at the DCPA. She continues to support the professional development of theatre artists from all ages, levels, and backgrounds at Visionbox Studio.
-
Actors will learn to apply The Five Questions (Visionbox Studio’s foundation for technique) to their audition material, including two contemporary monologues and two Shakespeare monologues. At the end of the intensive, all actors will have the opportunity to create self-tapes filmed by professional videographer Scott Colby. Actors can choose to only participate in the audition intensive without self-tapes, or choose to participate in both opportunities.
Tuition: $250 for private audition coaching session with Jennifer Rincon.
$250 for self-tape session with Jennifer and Scott.
Limited Scholarships Available.
To Sign-Up, write to info@visionbox.org. New actors, please include a headshot and resume.
INTERESTED IN CLASS ENROLLMENT?
All artists, actors, and students interested in classes must sign up for an audition. Auditions should include two contrasting monologues; one contemporary, and one Shakespearean verse. The audition is a way for us to get to know each other and to ensure you are placed in a class that will be both challenging and suited to your current level of experience and training. Please do not hesitate to contact us for details regarding this process!
Visionbox will accept up to 16 actors for each class.
We also accept directors and playwrights into our classes. Directors and writers should also schedule an interview with Ms. Rincon and our staff for more information on the class they are interested in.
